Environmental Remediation Project Manager – Geologist or Engineer

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Remediation Project Manager – Geologist or Engineer to join our Seattle, Washington office. This role is well-suited for a geologist, hydrogeologist, or engineer with consulting experience in the Pacific Northwest who has successfully led environmental investigation and remediation projects. In this position, your project leadership, client service, and technical expertise will be central to guiding complex contaminated site assessment and remediation work, including remedial investigations and feasibility studies, groundwater monitoring, soil vapor extraction, sediment and surface water sampling, technical reporting, and data-driven project delivery.

This opportunity is especially well-suited for someone who enjoys combining field-based technical insight with project coordination, data evaluation, client service, and high-quality deliverables. You will have the opportunity to move beyond task execution into broader project ownership while continuing to contribute meaningfully to technical strategy and field implementation.

• Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
• Evaluate contaminated sites and develop investigation and remediation approaches, including remedial investigations/feasibility studies, removal action work plans, remediation design plans, and remedy implementation under state and federal cleanup programs.
• Lead proposal and work plan development, environmental data evaluation, conceptual site model updates, cost-benefit analyses, and technical recommendations that support practical cleanup strategies.
• Implement and manage remedial pilot tests and systems, including soil vapor extraction, groundwater monitoring programs, vendor selection, logistical coordination, permitting, and supervision of field teams.
• Write technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; oversee and review documents prepared by project teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients, using your expertise to support Geosyntec’s growth through effective business development and client management.
• Foster trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
• Mentor, guide, and motivate early career staff assigned in the areas of project performance, including technical tasks listed above, client expectations, and career development; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
• At times, this position may also include fieldwork such as site visits, groundwater monitoring, surface and subsurface sediment sampling, surface water sampling, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.
• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed. 

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science, or a closely related discipline. (required)
• Advanced degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline. (preferred)
• Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.). (preferred)

• At least 7 years (8+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience in the Pacific Northwest marketplace; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
• Strong understanding of Pacific Northwest state and federal environmental regulations, with the ability to apply regulatory requirements to investigation, remediation, and closure strategies. (required)
• Experience coordinating projects and tasks, including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, quality, technical oversight, subcontractor coordination, and financial tracking. (required)
• Experience with remedial investigations, feasibility studies, groundwater monitoring, multi-media sampling methods and data acquisition, and environmental data analysis. (required)
• Strong technical writing skills, including experience preparing work plans, RI/FS documents, monitoring reports, technical memoranda, proposals, and client-ready deliverables. (required)
• Ability to mentor and coordinate early-career staff and field teams while maintaining strong communication with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and internal project teams. (required)
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
• Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
• Field work and overnight travel may be required.
• Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred) 
• Health & Safety training and medical monitoring. (required)
• Client-driven drug and background testing may be required. 
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required) 

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

• Minimum Salary: $101,650/year / Maximum Salary: $180,745/year (Seattle)
