Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a leader in our quality organization, you will:

  • Perform first article, in‑process, and final inspections using CMMs, manual tools, and visual inspection techniques
  • Interpret engineering drawings and work with engineering and management to define quality requirements
  • Create quality control plans for complex components
  • Develop and run CMM programs to support efficient, accurate measurements
  • Use calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, and vision‑based systems such as optical comparators
  • Support shop‑floor teams with in‑process inspections and guidance
  • Review measurement results, determine conformance, and produce detailed inspection reports
  • Partner with customers to review findings and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and upload documentation to company systems
  • Manage and track nonconformance reports
  • Perform routine CMM maintenance and monitor calibration status
  • Lead Out‑of‑Tolerance investigations and drive inspection‑process improvements
  • Apply basic statistical techniques to analyze measurement trends
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis
  • Uphold and follow Centrus’ quality management system procedures
  • Train team members on inspection techniques, tools, and GD&T concepts
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Support occasional weekend or evening work to meet critical deadlines
  • Contribute to additional projects as needed

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.

  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
  • Please note that marijuana remains a Schedule III controlled substance under Federal Law. Federal contractors must follow Federal drug-free workplace rules, which prohibit marijuana use, even if medical or recreational use is permitted under State Law. 
  • Minimum five years of experience in dimensional inspection and CMM programming
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5)
  • Experience inspecting tight‑tolerance, high‑value components
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to read mechanical drawings/CAD models
  • Strong written communication skills for procedures and reporting
  • Effective communication with engineers, shop personnel, and other teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

 

 

Preferred Qualifications and Location Details

  • Active Q Clearance.
  • NQA-1 and/or DOE related experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience preferred; working‑lead roles welcome
  • Experience programming and operating Zeiss Calypso CMMs
  • SolidWorks modeling experience
  • Familiarity with statistical tools such as Minitab
  • Onsite position – Oak Ridge, TN
  • Position will be initial W2 contract with conversion and/or extension options.
