Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Water/Wastewater Design Engineer in our Lakewood, Colorado office. This role offers the opportunity to join our growing water team and play a key part in the continued expansion of our design group, supporting innovative water and wastewater treatment projects for clients across the country. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary design team, the successful candidate will contribute to projects from concept through construction, developing civil, mechanical, and electrical layouts, piping and equipment plans, and other design deliverables that help shape critical water infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities for public and industrial clients, supporting a wide range of applications including municipal water and wastewater, industrial wastewater, groundwater, stormwater, and landfill leachate.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of water professionals across the country to deliver innovative, integrated solutions for complex water and wastewater projects.
  • Prepare process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) in accordance with ISA standards and industry best practices.
  • Perform engineering analyses, including planning and feasibility studies, hydraulic evaluations, and equipment sizing and selection.
  • Develop design drawings and specifications for water, wastewater, groundwater, and stormwater treatment systems, including layouts, details, piping sections, and P&IDs.
  • Support occasional fieldwork and construction-phase services, including site visits, system start-ups, and commissioning activities.
  • Apply process engineering principles to support the evaluation, design, and optimization of treatment systems.
  • Assist with water, wastewater, and leachate treatment, management, and remediation projects across a variety of client and site conditions.
  • Analyze and interpret technical data, and prepare maps, tables, figures, and other project documentation.
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, plans, specifications, letters, and proposals to support project delivery and business development.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental). (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or progress toward licensure. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience (7+ years preferred) in the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and conveyance projects, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience preparing engineering design packages (including calculations, technical specifications, and design drawings) for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. (required)
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary coordination involving process, civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls design. (preferred)
  • Experience with treatment process evaluation, hydraulic analysis, and equipment sizing and selection for municipal or industrial water and wastewater systems. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to support projects through multiple phases of delivery, including planning, preliminary and detailed designs, permitting support, and construction-phase services. (preferred)
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team across the water practice. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

 

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $92,835/year / Maximum Salary: $139,310/year (Lakewood, CO)
