Geosyntec Consultants has an immediately available job opening for a Project Management Practitioner to work in a full-time, onsite role at the West Valley Cleanup Alliance, LLC. West Valley Cleanup Alliance is the prime contractor selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Phase 1B Deactivation & Demolition Contract at the West Valley Demonstration Project site. The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York.

 

As a Geosyntec employee working in this role you will direct and manage resources throughout life of a project by using management and leadership skills/techniques. Projects managed will be characterized as having a combined rating for cost, resources, risk (complexity) of medium/hard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations.
  • Implement standards contained in the Company "Code of Business Ethics and Conduct," Corporate EEO practices and DOE directives.
  • Gain experience and knowledge in project management skills/techniques by performing a rotation of assignments on a variety of projects covering all areas of project management other than area of individual expertise.
  • Manage tasks by coordinating and overseeing established project costs, schedule, and technical baselines.
  • Develop and implement Project Implementation Plans (PIPs) as applicable by utilizing established WVCA Project Management Guidelines.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers by providing concise and accurate oral and written presentations regarding task implementation plans, status, changes and new approaches. Ensure timely submittal of all required progress and status reports.
  • Ensure progress of tasks is within schedule, cost, technical, and environmental baselines by managing task efforts.
  • Act as a project management advisor to assigned project teams.
  • Support completion of task objectives by conducting analysis of problems and developing and implementing alternative actions when necessary.
  • Prepare for the PMP® certification exam by obtaining required number of hours of experience through rotational assignments to meet minimum qualifications in order to take the PMP® certification exam. Additional methods for exam preparation may include keeping current with project management skills and techniques; reading articles, journals, papers on the subject; or attending appropriate training, conferences, and seminars.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of related professional level experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and understanding of managing tasks, sub-projects or projects. (required)
  • Experience in Earned Value Management System (EVMS) concepts and practices. (required)
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and understanding of managing tasks, sub-projects or projects. (required)
  • Advance knowledge of Primavera P6 and Deltek Cobra. (required)
  • Knowledge of project management theories, principles, techniques, policies, regulations, and legal requirements. (required)
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve a wide variety of complex issues. (required)
  • Highly developed organizational skills and ability to manage projects and special assignments to deliver results on time and within budget. (required)
  • Strong problem-solving skills required to:
    • Coordinate task activities and resources to meet objectives within established constraints of scope, time, cost, and quality.
    • Resolve issues that may arise due to differences between customer expectations and established objectives. To be able to negotiate a path forward that meets the objectives of the task within established constraints while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction.
    • Provide advice on issues that arises on tasks and to recommend approaches to resolve issues or solicit assistance from a more senior project management resource.
    • Resolve issues of conflict between team members or solicit assistance from a more senior project management resource.
  • Ability to develop and execute short-term strategic plans. (required)
  • Ability to manage team members and clerical support as assigned and required to meet objectives. (required)
  • Must possess mastery knowledge of industry specific software applications (required)
  • Ability to interface with individuals or groups from inside and outside of the organization, senior management, as well as high-ranking officials from outside the organization. (required)
  • Ability to justify, defend, negotiate, or settle matters involving significant or controversial issues in accordance with CHBWV practices. (required)
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

 

Minimum Salary: $97,030/year / Maximum Salary: $126,140/year
