Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Water / Wastewater Engineer to join our team in Olympia, Washington. In this position, you will contribute to advanced water and wastewater projects by managing tasks such as evaluating systems, designing solutions, conducting tests, overseeing implementation, advancing permits, coordinating with regulators and leading planning efforts. In this role, you will provide  project management, taking on tasks or managing projects based on your experience and the specific scope of work. Additionally, you will help expand our practice in the region by participating in business development efforts, including attending conferences, visiting clients, and assisting in proposal development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Performing and overseeing detailed water/wastewater engineering design on a variety of project types and geographies.
  • Developing construction documents, including bid forms, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Developing report plans for sampling, feasibility study, and design basis.
  • Developing technical reports, including feasibility studies and treatment process evaluation.
  • Developing engineer’s cost estimate analysis for water systems.
  • Performing permitting support with local, regional, and national permitting agencies.
  • Conducting or overseeing field investigations and construction support services.
  • Managing multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal and external.
  • Interacting with client representatives and regulatory representatives.
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments.
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, or civil engineering, with emphasis on process engineering or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or the ability to obtain P.E. registration within 1 year. (preferred) 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with drinking water system permitting with the Washington State Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (preferred)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the management of clients. (required)
  • Proven leadership skills. (required)
  • Experience working on a variety of project types and in a variety of roles (e.g., project engineer and project manager) within the water supply industry (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $92,835/year / Maximum Salary: $120,685/year (Olympia, WA)
