Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer in Kennesaw, GA. Working within the private, municipal, and federal client sectors, you will be involved in Geosyntec’s project work related to the Power Utility and Dams and Levees markets. In collaboration with top professionals in their field, you will work on complex projects involving innovative civil design with unique water management and geotechnical challenges, but also will take a leading role in project and program management tasks for various design projects. Most tasks will be within the markets listed above, but you may also perform tasks in other company practice areas (mining, geo-environmental, groundwater, and sediments), as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and/or supervising technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and work plans for: civil design; site development and grading; stormwater management; and erosion and sediment controls.
  • Managing construction quality assurance programs and providing engineering support during construction.
  • Preparing task orders and proposals including scope of work, cost/fee estimates, schedule, presentations.
  • Experience in dams, landfills, and/or coal combustion residuals (CCRs) engineering is a plus.
  • Providing oversight and management of multi-disciplinary projects and assistance in managing Client Programs.
  • Coordinating work efforts and reviewing work performed by other team members.
  • Developing and maintaining strong collaborative internal (i.e., within Geosyntec) and external (i.e., clients and subcontractors) relationships.
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring early-career engineers and scientists.
  • Serving as point-of-contact with clients and other project consultants.
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline (preferred)
  • Professional registration or ability to obtain it soon after hire (i.e., P.E.) (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of progressive experience in consulting industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
  • Experience in task and project management (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills (required)
  • Experience with relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil3D, HydroCAD, SWMM, and ArcGIS (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
