Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Solid Waste Advisory Intern position in our Kennesaw, GA office. The position offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations in support of the Solid Waste Advisory Team for a variety of multidisciplinary projects while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 10 to 14 weeks during the summer of 2026. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the economic analysis process;
  • Support the financial modeling process;
  • Source and critically evaluate data, providing insightful analysis and visual presentations;
  • Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Following instructions and interacting with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors, and construction personnel;
  • Development of research on markets, industries, and companies;
  • Source and critically evaluate data, providing insightful analysis and visual presentations;
  • Technical writing of letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and reports;
  • Assist in developing and delivering presentations for internal or client-facing purposes;
  • Participate in client and team interactions and briefings; and
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in a relevant technical discipline. (required)
  • Upper division (e.g. senior) or Master’s enrollment. (preferred)
  • Degree focus areas in economics, math, finance, geology, environmental science, or engineering. (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral, and written communication, and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team. (required)
  • Position may also require health and safety training for working in the field as part of our corporate Health and Safety procedures.
  • Solid general technical/analytical capabilities, including the ability to learn new software quickly. (required)
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools such as: Word, Excel (pivot tables, formulas, IF Statement). (valuable)
  • Familiarity with environmental data and knowledge of basic statistics. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Candidates must currently hold and maintain valid U.S. work authorization. New H-1B visa lottery and employment based green card sponsorship are not available for this position.
