The position will apply academic knowledge and solid understanding and experience with standard practices and techniques used when working with data visualization and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects to support projects that include environmental assessments, groundwater remediation, water and natural resources, geotechnical construction, and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Using desktop and enterprise GIS software, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Online to collect, store, analyze, and visualize spatial data.
  • Create, organize, manipulate, and generate GIS data using ESRI ArcGIS Software for data reporting, analysis, presentations, and data visualization purposes for client deliverables.
  • Use mobile data collection platforms, such as EQuIS collect, Survey123, Collector for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Field Maps, and Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment for data collection.
  • Interact with multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients to provide integrated data management and visualization solutions for environmental engineering and geoscience projects.
  • Participation in client-needs analysis and developing current knowledge of GIS technology and software.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, science, geology, or engineering. (required)
  • GIS professional certification or formal GIS training. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior internship or working experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro), including geodatabase structures and geoprocessing concepts. (required)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. (required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (required), including the ability to write complex formulas (i.e., Excel functions) and visualize data effectively. (preferred)
  • Experience with geographic data visualization, cartography, geoprocessing tools, and applied techniques in the mapping sciences. (preferred)
  • Experience with the front-end processes of collecting field data with various GPS units and the process of downloading and compiling the data. (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of programming languages such as Python and VBA. (preferred)
  • Ability to write complex queries and automate routine processes (e.g. VBA and SQL). (preferred)
  • Direct experience managing environmental, geologic, and geotechnical data collection. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
