Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. Some of the key responsibilities may include:

  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability
  • Analyze, interpret, and manage environmental data using appropriate computer applications for technical storytelling to non-technical audiences
  • Prepare, review, and/or manage memoranda, presentations, technical reports, and legal reports
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties
  • Serve as a technical specialist who develops and applies advanced technical concepts and approaches to meet challenging assignments
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors
  • Business development, such as authoring technical papers, leading proposals, and actively participating in professional organizations and conferences that will increase visibility in your personal market/practice area, and the visibility of the firm to potential clients and recruits
  • At times, this job may also include fieldwork such as multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed. 

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred) or geology. (required)
  • Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of direct environmental consulting experience in the marketplace; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients, and leadership skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
