Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Remediation Engineer or Geologist in our environmental sciences and engineering practice in our Ann Arbor or Detroit, Michigan offices.  The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment & remediation (including vapor intrusion and PFAS projects) for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. We are specifically seeking a candidate with a good foundation in environmental investigation methods, who is looking to learn advanced characterization techniques, take on new complex challenges, and accelerate their career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance and oversight, and remediation system O&M;
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, if applicable. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience, including observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, vapor sampling, and other field techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (valuable)
  • Technical experience in geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
  • Experience with construction work such as plumbing, electrical, structural, geotechnical, or mechanical tasks. (valuable)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
