Senior Water and Wastewater Treatment Engineer or Scientist

Geosyntec is looking for a Senior Water & Wastewater Treatment Engineer or Scientist in Kennesaw, GA, the potential to work remotely from your home-office is available at the discretion of the Company. You will work on complex multidisciplinary projects for private and public-sector clients, involving water and wastewater treatment design, technology evaluation and pilot-scale testing, startup and commissioning, as well as permitting and construction support. This position would involve supporting project management activities either through task or project management depending on the candidate’s experience and project scope.  In addition, the candidate will assist in expanding our water and wastewater treatment practice nationally by assisting in business development efforts including attending conferences, visiting clients, and developing proposals.

• Leading and overseeing water/wastewater engineering evaluations and design on a variety of projects, including water balance studies;
• Applying innovative treatment processes to remove pollutants, including emerging contaminants, from water and wastewater;
• Developing feasibility study, basis of design, and performance monitoring reports;
• Developing engineer’s construction cost estimates for treatment systems;
• Supporting permitting efforts with local, regional, and national permitting agencies;
• Developing construction documents, including design drawings, specifications, bid forms, and startup plans;
• Conducting or overseeing field investigations, construction support services, startup/shakedown, O&M, and operator training;
• Managing multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal and external stakeholders;
• Interacting with client representatives and negotiating with regulatory agencies;
• Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
• Help broaden our reputation via publishing and/or presenting at prominent industry conferences.
• Fieldwork: Up to 10%
• Overnight travel: Up to 10%

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, environmental engineering, or civil engineering, with emphasis on water or wastewater treatment or closely related discipline. (required)
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in environmental systems engineering, or civil engineering, with emphasis on water or wastewater treatment or closely related discipline. (preferred)
• Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (preferred)

• At least 8 years (10+ preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Experience leading and/or support water/wastewater treatment evaluation and design projects, including biological treatment processes. (required)
• Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
• Demonstrated success in the management of clients. (required)
• Proven leadership skills. (required)
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
• Experience working with emerging contaminants such as PFAS or 1,4-dioxane. (preferred)
• Experience supporting utility clients with the CCR and/or ELG rules.
• Experience with modeling and design software tools such as InfoWater, WaterGEMS, GPS-X, Biowin, and/or AutoCAD. (preferred)
• Experience working on a variety of project types and in a variety of roles (e.g., project engineer and project manager) within the water/wastewater industry. (preferred)
• Regular field work and overnight travel. (required) 
• Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred) 
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. 
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
