Overview

Geosyntec is looking for an Early-Career Civil / Water Resources Engineer to help build our Water and Natural Resources practice in our Kennesaw, GA office. The position provides the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations related to stormwater management and civil site design. An early career professional can expect to work under the direction of senior engineers on diverse project teams to prepare calculations, designs, construction drawings, and reports. Tasks will include visits to project sites to conduct inspections, assessments, sampling, or oversight activities. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients and technical experts to provide solutions on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Site visits/field investigations and sampling;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling;
  • Civil/infrastructure design and site layout;
  • Stormwater management system planning, design, and analysis;
  • Erosion and sediment control (E&SC) design;
  • Green infrastructure (GI) and Low Impact Development (LID) Best Management Practices (BMP) design;
  • Clean Water Act (CWA)/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance and permitting; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, construction drawing packages, calculations, specifications, etc.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year from hire. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Proficiency in MS office tools, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. (required)
  • Experience in one or more of civil design and H&H modeling software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8.  (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
