Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Licensing and Compliance Paralegal to work from one of our offices such as: Detroit, Ann Arbor, MI; Acton, MA; Asheville, NC; Augusta, ME; Austin, TX; Baton Rouge, LA; Bedford, NH; Birmingham, AL; Boca Raton, FL; Blue Bell, PA; Chattanooga, TN; Cincinnati, OH; Greenville, SC; St. Louis, MO; Overland Park, KS or any of our other offices throughout the U.S., the potential to work a hybrid schedule or remotely from your home-office is available at the discretion of the Company. This position will provide general support services to the legal department and the practice for specific offices or regions. Assignments will involve reviewing regulations, researching and evaluating legal and tax implications for new entities, responding to questions from project teams, and general support of business functions and assisting with special projects related to licensing and compliance requirements in various states and countries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the filing, updating, maintenance, and renewal of corporate and/or professional licenses in various US and international jurisdictions for the entire company group, including, professional engineering, professional geology, and contractor’s licensing;
  • Research compliance requirements in jurisdictions around the world in support of company growth and project needs; 
  • Engage with practitioners around the company to support delivery of project work in compliance with licensing regulations; 
  • Evaluate existing licensing process to provide and execute recommendations for improvement;
  • Serve as the company resource for licensing issues and questions and work with project teams to ensure awareness of and compliance with licensing requirements;
  • Manage database related to licensing compliance and maintain records of licensing renewals; 
  • Manage corporate records for corporate entities; prepare corporate records and ensure registrations are kept up to date; research and evaluate legal and tax implications for new entities;
  • Work with managers, other members of the corporate team and local counsel to manage registrations in various jurisdictions;
  • Assist with related compliance functions and business analysis as needed;
  • Respond to questions from around the company on subjects managed by the legal department.
  • Assist the legal department with tasks as assigned by managing counsel and other members of the Legal Department ; and
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Graduation from university, community college or equivalent, and at least five (5) years of related paralegal, legal assistant or legal support services in a law firm or in-house legal department; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with managing corporate records for corporate entities as well as corporate or individual licenses in various jurisdictions. (required)
  • Experience with professional service agreements. (preferred)
  • Experience working in the engineering and/or construction industry. (preferred)
