Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal – Energy and Environmental Remediation to help grow our local energy market in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virgina, being based out of our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested growing regional oil and gas business, manage client programs and projects, and be a subject matter expert in the oil & gas industry environmental matters, such as regulatory compliance, EHS program development and auditing, environmental due diligence, spill assessment and remediation, stray gas investigations, air and water issues and other relevant topics. Must have significant reginal oil & gas experience within the upstream and/or midstream oil  & gas markets, including management of compliance and regulatory programs and building and developing a team to support the work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project and task management, including planning and implementing regulatory compliance, EHS program development and auditing, due diligence, spill assessment and remediation, stray gas investigations, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Preparing, managing and/or implementing remediation designs and strategies for soil, sediment, and groundwater remediation projects related to the oil & gas industry.
  • Business development in the regional oil & gas markets; including bringing in new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and developing and implementing a business development plan;
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and technical report writing on a variety of projects;
  • Reviewing and managing written document production;
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
  • At times, job may also include fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or geology (civil, chemical, environmental, or hydrogeology preferred). (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional certification (P.E., P.G.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Subject matter expert in oil & gas industry environmental matters such as regulatory compliance, EHS program development and auditing, due diligence, spill assessment and remediation, stray gas investigations, and other relevant topics. (required)
  • Significant regional oil & gas experience within the upstream and/or midstream oil & gas markets including management of compliance and regulatory programs. (required)
  • Experience with developing multi-disciplinary teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)
  • Proven leadership skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Fieldwork and overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
