Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a full time Senior Professional - Environmental Compliance and Permittingin our Pittsburgh, PA office and within our established environmental management practice group.  You must have an entrepreneurial attitude, and enthusiasm for supporting business development and technical efforts to grow Geosyntec’s business supporting clients with their environmental compliance, permitting, due diligence, and/or related environmental management needs. This position will support Geosyntec’s strategic growth and will help us expand the types of innovative solutions to our clients' most complex problems.  This position is part of our initiative to expand our growing environmental management team in Pittsburgh, supporting energy, oil & gas, and industrial clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support energy and industrial clients with environmental aspects of transactions, reporting, litigation, and other business decisions. 
  • Lead and manage environmental compliance, permitting, auditing, and due diligence projects. 
  • Develop business opportunities with new and existing clients and prepare associated proposals. 
  • Effectively steward and build client relationships to generate repeat business. 
  • Manage multiple clients and projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables. 
  • Manage the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. 
  • Oversee and delegate work to junior and senior staff; and 
  • Provide mentoring and training to technical staff for due diligence and compliance projects. 

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, geology or a related field. (required) 
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred) 
  • Professional registration (e.g., CHMM, CEP, CHP, CIH) (preferred) 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 8 years (10+ preferred) of relevant experience in an environmental consulting environment, the environmental and/or health & safety compliance and management industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Experience developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals. (preferred) 
  • Regulatory, compliance, and permitting experience supporting oil & gas and energy projects in the Marcellus Shale region. 
  • Experience planning, conducting, and reviewing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. (preferred) 
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective communication and training abilities. (required) 
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)  
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required. 
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. 
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
