Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Site Manager in our Titusville, FL office.  The position will assist with sample collection of diverse materials including, but not limited to, soil, sediment, water, and air for environmental tests; compile construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data related to environmental remediation construction, provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for active remedial treatment systems, provide neat, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all field-related activities to senior level project personnel; and provide additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public sector client base. The role requires the ability to comprehend standard operating procedures, construction plans and specifications and a strong willingness to perform extensive fieldwork and travel for extensive periods of time, including overnights, weekends, and holidays. An interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform field and on-site tests on soil, groundwater, vapor, geosynthetics, aggregates, and other materials.
  • Perform O&M activities on active remediation systems, including pump and treat systems and air sparge/soil vapor extraction systems.
  • Provide CQA monitoring on several types of construction and/or environmental activities on enviro-civil construction sites;
  • Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules & progress reports;
  • Ensure that project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings;
  • Assist in the preparation of the final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices;
  • Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures; and
  • Perform tasks in other company practice areas including environmental sampling, contractor oversight, general construction services, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of eight (8) years of applicable experience; or Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college and a minimum of six (6) years of applicable experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects and a minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position.   • Technical understanding of site investigation, construction quality assurance, and/or construction management procedures for environmental remediation projects or solid waste facility. (required)
  • Ability to monitor several different types of construction and environmental activities simultaneously. (required)
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, including survey and topographical drawings. (required)
  • Experience ensuring field activities comply with construction plans and specifications and the ability to monitor several different types of activities simultaneously. (required)
  • Experience with the oversight of monitoring well installation. (required).
  • Experience with the operation of industry typical monitoring and data collection equipment, including but not limited laptop and handheld computers, global positioning system devices, and other equipment. (required)
  • Experience with multi-media sampling including soil, water, and air (required).
  • Excellent writing skills and detail orientation. (required)
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw. (required)
  • Strong willingness to work outdoors with interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
