Gradient, a Geosyntec Company has an exciting opportunity for an Intern / Co-Op – Epidemiologist in our Boston, MA office.  The position offers the opportunity to apply epidemiology academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. You will assist in conducting epidemiology summaries, analyses, and reviews for science-based evaluations with a focus on human health risk. Candidate has excellent attention to detail and quantitative skills. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 10 to 11 weeks during the summer semester of 2025. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support projects by helping a team conduct epidemiologic analyses, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and hazard-, exposure-, and risk assessments, review epidemiologic or exposure studies, and extract data;
  • Perform QA/QC accurately and efficiently;
  • Review results of literature searches and help to identify relevant studies and critically evaluate epidemiologic studies;
  • Assist in the preparation of deliverables (g., help draft reports, manuscripts, proposals, agency comments, presentations); and
  • Types of project work may include environmental and occupational health assessments, regulatory comment, product safety assessments, and site-specific human health risk assessment.

Education and Licensure

  • Currently registered in an advanced degree program (e.g., M.S. or Ph.D.) in epidemiology or relevant discipline. (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and oral communication. (required)
  • Strong statistical skills and the ability to critically evaluate epidemiology data and studies.  (required)
  • Strong organizational skills. (required)
