Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Air Quality/EHS Specialist in the Ann Arbor, MI area who is looking to be a part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial firm. This is an opportunity to support environmental compliance, due diligence, and liability valuation projects related to air emissions and related topics. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of United States experience providing air quality consulting services, including permitting and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • New source review (NSR) air permitting, including non-attainment NSR and Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting;
  • Title V permitting;
  • Knowledge of use of regulatory air dispersion modeling using EPA recommended models, (e.g., AERMOD, AERSCREEN, ToxChem); (preferred)
  • Emission calculations, emissions inventory development, and reporting;
  • TRI and other Toxics reporting requirements;
  • Greenhouse Gas (GHG) calculations, emissions inventory development, and reporting
  • Best available control technology (BACT) analyses; and
  • Regulatory applicability analyses, to include state, local, and federal regulations.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in environmental or chemical engineering or an aligned engineering discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering. (strongly preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (required or ability to obtain within 1 year)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of consulting or industry experience in air quality permitting, compliance and air dispersion modeling; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • United States air quality experience (required) and global air quality experience. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with USEPA and state environmental regulations and understanding of air permitting and compliance process. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Proven leadership skills. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required) 
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred) 
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. 
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
