Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. You would be working with a technical team of engineers, geologists, chemists, risk assessors, and data scientists to plan, execute, and report on environmental restoration projects. You will take on project and staff management responsibilities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and directing challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current offerings and capabilities to federal clients in Alaska.
  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Evaluating contaminated sites and developing remediation approaches, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, and remediation design plans.
  • Leading the development of work plans, data evaluation, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Implementing field program, including remedial investigations, logistical coordination, permitting, and supervision of field teams.
  • Fostering trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
  • Mentoring, guiding, and motivating early career staff in the areas of project performance, cost, schedule management, client expectations and career development.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications.
  • At times, this position may also include fieldwork, including site visits, and business travel.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), engineering (environmental, civil, or chemical engineering), or a related subject. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E, P.G., PMP) (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 7 years (8+ years preferred) of experience in environmental consulting, federal environmental restoration programs, or stakeholder involved in environmental restoration programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Detailed understanding of USEPA regulations. (required)
  • Thorough understanding of Alaska DEC regulations. (required)
  • Excellent technical leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
