Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Environmental Risk Assessor to support contaminated site assessment, human health & ecological risk assessment, and remediation practices in Anchorage, Alaska, or Portland, Oregon, as part of our Northwest branch.  In our environmental sciences and engineering practice, you will play an essential role by providing risk assessment, data evaluation, environmental fate and transport modeling, toxicology, and environmental risk management services. You will utilize your academic knowledge and practical experience to address real-world challenges in contaminated site assessment and remediation. In this role, you will support a diverse clientele comprising both national private and public sector entities, while also developing the essential business skills necessary for a successful consulting career.

• Assess exposures and risks to human populations and ecological communities from chemicals in contaminated environmental media;
• Manage and analyze data to support environmental investigations and prepare tables, figures, and other data exhibits;
• Perform calculations to support human health and ecological risk assessments and environmental regulatory compliance;
• Conduct literature searches and critically review and evaluate scientific studies regarding toxicological, biological, chemical fate and transport, exposure, or other risk assessment subject matters;
• Support field work at remote sites in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, or other locations in the United States;
• Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, workplans, proposals, investigative reports, and presentations; and
• Focus on team project delivery, taking direction primarily from supervisors and Project Managers.

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, ecology, environmental engineering or science, toxicology, public health, or a related science field (required)
• Advanced degree in public health, ecology, environmental science or related science field (preferred)
• Coursework specifically related to toxicology, environmental contamination, and chemical fate and transport in the environment (preferred)

• Prior internship or work experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
• Strong work ethic and must be a self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills. (required)
• Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, detail-oriented work style, willingness to learn, and commitment to workplace health and safety. (required)
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a team and achieve team objectives. (required)
• Demonstrated competency in statistics and quantitative data analysis. (preferred)
• Knowledge of and experience in exposure assessment, ecological risk assessment, human health risk assessment, toxicology, and related regulations. (preferred)
• Prior research experience in environmental science, ecology, and/or toxicology. (preferred)
• The ability and willingness to travel and perform fieldwork as needed. (required)
• Strong quantitative skills and experience managing large datasets with Microsoft Excel and presentation skills with Microsoft PowerPoint. (required)
• Ability to succeed in a consulting pace, handling multiple project assignments, and maintaining flexibility, while meeting strict deadlines. (required)
• Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
