Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Environmental Engineer, Scientist, Hydrogeologist, or Geologist as part of our contaminated site assessment and remediation practice in our New England Branch with offices located in Bedford, New Hampshire, Acton or Hamilton, Massachusetts office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Application of theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills gained from academic training to practical situations in the core area of competency.
  • Fieldwork such as soil, groundwater, indoor air, and soil vapor sampling; aquifer testing; remediation treatment system operation, maintenance, and monitoring; and drilling and remedial contractor oversight.
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting.
  • Monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects.
  • Assistance with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools.
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate and transport evaluations.
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation.
  • Data analysis and visualization of site investigation data including the preparation of tables, maps, and figures.
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA 1910.120 health and safety, first aid, CPR, and other training, as well as medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. 
  • Fieldwork: Up to 80%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science, or environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or engineering. (preferred)
  • Engineer or Geologist in Training certification. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology. (preferred)
  • Up to 2 years of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
  • Monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects (preferred).
  • Data analysis/visualization of site investigation data including the preparation of tables, maps, and figures using both industry-standard and cutting-edge applications.
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools.
  • Aquifer hydraulic testing and other hydrogeologic data generation, processing, and analyses.
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting.
  • Experience with ArcView, Microsoft Access, USGS MODFLOW, AqtesolvTM, EVS, and/or Golden Software 2D & 3D Data Modeling and Mapping. (preferred) 
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification and/or 8-hour recertification (preferred) or ability to attend company paid training after start of employment (required)
