Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Water Resources Professional in our Los Angeles, CA office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations while solving our clients’ water quality challenges related to NPDES, TMDLs and CSOs as driven by CWA requirements, and to develop experience related to water quality and biota sampling, data analysis, and reporting, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, regulatory permitting and compliance, and construction support of general civil and water resources infrastructure projects (e.g., stormwater BMPs, grading and drainage, wet utilities, roads, etc.);
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, analysis, and calculations;
  • Preparation of technical reports (e.g., preliminary design report, drainage study, etc.)
  • Preparation of technical specifications and contract documents for construction;
  • CAD design and drafting of design/construction documents;
  • Preparation of exhibits and figures using GIS;
  • Construction administration, support, oversight, and management;

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work (50%) and overnight travel (10%). (required)
  • Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulics modeling, Auto CAD, ArcGIS (preferred)
  • Familiarity with local (Los Angeles City/County) surface water regulations, design standards, and project drivers (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

 

  • Minimum: $66,560/year / Maximum: $71,375/year or Minimum: $27.45/hour / Maximum: $32.00/hour (Los Angeles, CA)
