Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fieldwork such as soil, soil vapor, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and remediation system O&M;
  • Assist in the development of site health and safety documents and abide by the same health and safety requirements when working in the field;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses;
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Spatial and statistical trends analysis for chemical and groundwater data;
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation; and
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, and implementation.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Ability and interest to obtain professional licensure in the State of California (Professional Geologist).

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience, including observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred) 
  • Detail-oriented work ethic and demonstrated ability to solve problems. (required)
  • Collaborative attitude and interest in working in a team environment. (required)
  • Interest in a long-term career development and goal setting. (required)
  • Experience evaluating digital data using spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel). (required)
  • Field experience with contaminated media, remediation technology, or vapor intrusion. (preferred)
  • Groundwater modeling and 3D data visualization experience. (preferred)
  • Experience with geostatistical software (e.g., Earth Volumetric Studio) or geographical information system software (e.g., ArcGIS). (preferred)
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or R. (preferred)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

 

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

 

  • Minimum: $66,560/year / Maximum: $86,240/year or Minimum: $27.45/hour / Maximum: $32.00/hour (Long Beach, CA)
  • Minimum: $66,560/year / Maximum: $82,495/year or Minimum: $26.25/hour / Maximum: $32.00/hour (Ontario, CA)
