Aspect Consulting (Aspect), a Geosyntec Company, an earth science and engineering consulting firm, is seeking an Early-Career Geologist, to join our growing Infrastructure Practice in Seattle, Wenatchee, Bellingham, Bainbridge Island (WA), or a hybrid schedule, at the company's discretion under our Aspect Consulting Branch. As an entry-level staff at Aspect, you will work outdoors in all weather conditions, and in rugged and sometimes remote field locations for extended periods of time. You also can expect to work directly with geologists, geotechnical engineers, hydrogeologists, environmental engineers, and scientists to learn foundational skills and how to effectively apply consulting strategies and solutions for our clients, who include public agencies, engineers, developers, landowners, and contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Subsurface exploration planning and oversight including geotechnical drilling, test pits, and rock coring;
  • Soil and rock classifications;
  • Rock mapping and other geologic mapping exercises like landslide mapping;
  • Groundwater monitoring well installation and development, groundwater sampling, and aquifer testing;
  • Infiltration testing;
  • Excavation monitoring and construction oversight
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of field reports, technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.

Our Infrastructure Practice is supported by a diverse and talented group of hydrogeologists, water resource engineers, environmental scientists and remediation engineers, CAD/GIS professionals, and technical editors who support each other across practices on multidisciplinary projects

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology (required)
  • Master’s degree in geology, or engineering (preferred)
  • Geologist-in-Training (GIT) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification or ability to obtain upon being hired. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 0- 2 years of relevant experience years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Clear technical writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Relevant coursework in contaminant fate and transport.
  • Knowledge of United Soil Classification System.
  • Experience with subsurface investigation field methods such as drilling, test pits, rock coring, monitoring well installation, and oversight of construction activities.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions and in rugged and sometimes remote field locations for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel long distances and accommodate occasional overnight travel; travel is often in Washington and the northwest region. (required)
  • Valis U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

 

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified Washington locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set, and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $54,615 - Maximum Salary: $82,495 (Seattle, Bainbridge Island WA)
  • Minimum Salary: $49,655 - Maximum Salary: $74,955 (Wenatchee, WA)
  • Minimum Salary: $52,135 - Maximum Salary: $78,745 (Bellingham, WA)
