Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Water/Wastewater Design Manager to join our team in the various locations including our Costa Mesa, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Denver, CO or Seattle, WA offices. The position will interact with our design teams in Pittsburgh and across the company and work with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the U.S. The position will provide leadership and client development specifically in water/wastewater treatment design, planning, and delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand our Water Treatment & Delivery practice and its capabilities through your technical design skills and management of design teams. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. 

Some of the key responsibilities may include:

  • Maintain and build a positive client relationship being the primary point of contact with the client during the design phase of projects;
  • Complete diverse project tasks on water and wastewater projects;
  • Independently prepare design calculations and reports;
  • Plan and prepare or review technical specifications;
  • Mentor and develop engineering design staff;
  • Communicate project tasks between offices and design groups, a high level of coordination and communication skills required;
  • Perform QA/QC and participate in constructability reviews of designs;
  • Plan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work as a part of a major project or small-moderate scope project;
  • Manage multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Manage the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management;
  • Effectively steward and build client relationships to repeat business; and
  • Develop business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing or assisting with associated proposals.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in related engineering field. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (P.E.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in water/wastewater consulting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience in detailed design of water/wastewater projects for industrial and municipal clients. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience managing engineering design staff. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $124,620/year / Maximum Salary: $174,470/year (Costa Mesa)
  • Minimum Salary: $130,280/year / Maximum Salary: $182,390/year (Los Angeles)
  • Minimum Salary: $124,620/year / Maximum Salary: $174,470/year (Seattle, WA)
  • Minimum Salary: $118,955/year / Maximum Salary: $166,535/year (Denver, CO)
