Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer in our in our Costa Mesa, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA, or Denver, CO offices.  The position will support our engineering design practice by applying electrical engineering skills and providing services to our expanding water and wastewater treatment practices for various industrial and municipal sector clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply experience, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills for the development and review of technical approaches, detailed electrical design, and system controls;
  • Responsible for scoping, scheduling, and budgeting requirements in the design of process engineering projects including estimating labor, material, or construction costs for budget preparation purposes;
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and client requirements;
  • Perform specific technical work functions as required by project requirements including, but not limited to, site visits, conceptual and detailed designs, and technical analysis and review;
  • Review and prepare technical documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals;
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
  • Review and manage written document production;
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform electrical engineering tasks;
  • Directing multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments; and
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in electrical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering. (preferred) 
  • Professional registration (P.E.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in electrical engineering field with a focus on the design phase for water and wastewater engineering projects, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strong background with industrial equipment, electrical motors and drives, power distribution, building service and wiring, and process controls/automation. (required)
  • Experience with process instrumentation and controls systems. (preferred)
  • Experience in the development and approval of single line diagrams and network diagrams. (required)
  • Experience with modeling and design tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge with applicable codes (i.e. NEC, NFPA) and Federal and State regulations. (required)
  • Experience with managing multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Excellent leadership and detail-orientation skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $124,620/year / Maximum Salary: $174,470/year (Costa Mesa)
  • Minimum Salary: $130,280/year / Maximum Salary: $182,390/year (Los Angeles)
  • Minimum Salary: $118,955/year / Maximum Salary: $166,535/year (Denver, CO)
  • Minimum Salary: $124,620/year / Maximum Salary: $174,470/year (Seattle, WA)
