Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Civil / Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in our Kennesaw (Atlanta), Georgia office.  The position will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including sustainable green infrastructure planning studies and designs, urban stormwater infrastructure design and analysis, flood mitigation practices, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, civil engineering design, stream restoration, surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring/modeling, and industrial and construction site NPDES permitting support and inspections, & Clean Water Act regulatory support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing and overseeing detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies;
  • Developing innovative green infrastructure solutions for the urban environment;
  • Applying innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D transport models;
  • Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
  • In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling;
  • Field investigations and construction support services;
  • Developing construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications;
  • Preparing erosion and sediment control designs;
  • Developing strong collaborative relationships and interacting with client representatives and internal Geosyntec colleagues;
  • Coordinating work efforts with multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, recruiting, staff development, and mentoring; and
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources or other science, with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G. CPESC, CPSWG) or the ability to obtain within 12 months. (preferred) 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HY-8, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
