Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Principal / Senior Principal Environmental Management Practitioner to join our business in San Diego, California. You will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the U.S. and will provide leadership and client development, specifically Compliance/Due Diligence/EHS consulting services related to mergers, acquisitions and divestments.

 

You will be developing and supporting national and international clients across a wide range of sectors including energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, legal, insurance and real estate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. 

 

Some of the key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals.
  • Lead Environmental Due Diligence efforts for M&A and real estate opportunities
  • Prepare concise reports that assess potential environmental liability risks and regulatory compliance at commercial / industrial facilities. Identify corrective actions for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide timely consulting advice to industry and legal clients to help manage business risk and maximize transaction value. Work with clients to find solutions to transaction-driven environmental issues, including environmental regulatory compliance, social impact, remediation, and liability cost estimating.
  • Review and interpretation of pending and new regulations and developing strategies for clients;
  • Providing clients with project management, technical advice and training related to environmental compliance, sustainability, and environmental management systems.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree environmental science, chemistry, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering, or a related field of study (required)
  • Advanced degree in a related field of study. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (e.g. P.G., P.E., CHMM or PMP). (desirable)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

 

  • At least 10 years (15+ preferred) of experience working in a consulting environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • A strong track record in business development, including proposals leadership, and stewarding and building client relationships with repeat business. (required)
  • Experience performing and leading transactional due diligence services related to mergers, acquisitions & divestments for the industrial, financial, legal and real estate sectors (required)
  • Experience in managing environmental compliance, permitting, planning, compliance and environmental oversight of projects. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Experience in development and implementation of environmental compliance training programs. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products. (required) 
  • Ability to make presentations at industrial conferences and at client meetings. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $133,055 / Maximum Salary: $248,470 (San Diego, all locations)
