The position will perform computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) for a variety of offshore geohazard and geotechnical engineering projects for numerous oil and gas and renewable energy clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce highly accurate maps and figures over various offshore project areas;
  • Compile and analyze regional input data, project-related data, and any other material to determine the best approach to complete drawings;
  • Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other input/output devices;
  • Proofread CAD drawings for accuracy, format, and grammar;
  • Assist the support services group with printing, report binding, and other duties needed to finalize project deliverables;
  • Communicates with supervisor, and geoscience and engineering professional staff on progress and timeline of projects.
  • Participate in CAD Action Group, by supporting, networking, and collaborating to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company.
  • Working collaboratively with other Geosyntec CADD practitioners to prepare drawings and details and reviewing completed work products to ensure quality.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Drafting; or graduation from an accredited high school and a minimum of one (1) year experience performing CAD drafting work in a professional setting, or equivalent education, experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. (required)
  • Knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems is (preferred).
  • Experience with geoscience and geotechnical engineering processes. (preferred)
  • Experience using the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD. Knowledge of AutoCAD includes but is not limited to Paper Space / Model Space, XREFs, Layers, Dynamic Blocks, and Tool Palettes. (required)
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS and willingness to learn (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of the latest releases of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and Windows File Explorer. (required)
  • Strong reasoning, mathematical, and geometrical skills.  Ability to perform basic math skills including applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. (required)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings from geologists, engineers, CAD Managers, or others on the project team. Strong communication skills to include the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions, and the ability to interact effectively to maintain a team environment. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
