Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer in our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice to support our Houston, TX operations in the Boston area from our Acton, MA office, a hybrid or remote work schedule may be available at the Company’s discretion. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving large infrastructure projects for energy generation and the oil and gas industry as well as pipeline geohazard mitigation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. Some of the key responsibilities may include:

  • Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic stability, and seepage;
  • Geotechnical site characterization and development of ground models;
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications;
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services;
  • Managing multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management;
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to repeat business; and
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field. (required) 
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability). (required) 
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling tools. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required) 
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Fieldwork and overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
