The position will apply geology skills to projects involving pipeline systems, dams, dikes, mines, and infrastructure while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Field and office work associated with surface and subsurface geotechnical, geological, and geohazard site investigation and characterization;
  • Development, installation, and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Supporting other diverse project opportunities including work in the fields of environmental, geotechnical, stormwater, and sediments.
  • Use of remote sensing data for geohazard identification, characterization, and monitoring;
  • Mapping and management of geologic/geohazard data in ArcGIS databases;
  • Report writing and figure preparation;
  • Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities: and
  • Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, CPR training, and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 70%
  • Overnight travel: Varies based on assignments

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.). (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strong fundamentals in geology or geotechnical engineering theory and practice. (required)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. (required)
  • Knowledge of applied software (e.g., gINT, ArcGIS, etc.) and/or numerical methods using spreadsheets. (preferred)
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required)
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move 30 to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
