Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Marine Geotechnical Engineer to join the offshore geotechnical engineering team in our Houston, Texas office. This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving offshore marine renewable energy projects, offshore oil and gas developments, and onshore and nearshore industrial facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing offshore and onshore geotechnical investigations;
  • Overseeing and directly performing fieldwork in support of offshore and onshore geotechnical investigations;
  • Developing and managing geotechnical laboratory testing programs, including advanced testing methods;
  • Selecting geotechnical parameters for engineering design;
  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations, including slope stability assessments, foundation designs, pipe-soil interaction analyses, and seismic evaluations;
  • Preparing construction documents, including drawings and technical specifications;
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports, letters and memoranda; and
  • Managing multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management;
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, or ocean engineering. (required) 
  • Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of relevant work experience in engineering consulting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • At least 2 of experience as a marine geotechnical engineer working on offshore projects in support of the energy sector. (required)
  • Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required) 
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and travel as needed. (required) 
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and overnight travel. (required)
  • OPITO BOSIET, OSHA health and safety, First Aid and CPR training and refreshers. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
