Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Geologist / Hydrogeologist in our environmental practice in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The position will have the opportunity to apply geologic and environmental science skills to projects involving contaminated site assessment and remediation, mining, construction management, environmental compliance, and proposal and report preparation while developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data analysis/visualization of site investigation data including the preparation of tables, maps, and figures using both industry-standard and cutting-edge applications;
  • Preparation of written documents such as proposals, workplans and investigative reports; and
  • Assisting with other business development activities.
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects;
  • Field work, site investigation and characterization, including hardrock, sediment, soil, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, core logging, geologic mapping; and
  • Conducting remedy evaluation, cost estimating, and supporting remedial implementation.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or geochemistry. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology, environmental science, or geochemistry. (valuable)
  • Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM), Geologist in Training (GIT) certification (valuable)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience with planning and implementing environmental or geologic field projects or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
  • Internship(s), co-op position, or prior work experience relevant to the position. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Experience with mine-related facilities and earthen structures. (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
