Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Water Resources Engineer or Scientist to join our team in the Bedford, New Hampshire, Acton, Massachusetts, or Hamilton, Massachusetts office. The position will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the U.S. and will provide leadership and client development specifically in water resources engineering, watershed planning, construction management, civil infrastructure design, and permitting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. 

Some of the key responsibilities may include:

  • Aspire to lead a department, inclusive of a commitment in the development and execution of mentoring, training and career planning for staff; oversight and administration of the department; workload assessment and leveling; recruitment of senior and junior-level candidates; embracing and fostering Company culture; and providing individual as well as project performance assessments;
  • Develop, win and manage project work from past and new clients in one of the following practice areas: stormwater management, watershed planning, or water resources;
  • Managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management;
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to repeat business; and
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, civil engineering or other applicable related degree. (required)
  • Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in environmental consulting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Proven track record in business development and project management. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Certifications or additional training or experience in erosion and sediment control inspection and wetlands delineation. (preferred)
  • Experience with civil infrastructure design including drainage, grading, green infrastructure, and low impact development.
  • Experience in managing permitting, planning, compliance and environmental oversight of linear energy infrastructure (and related fixed assets) projects. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Experience in conducting environmental site assessments for compliance with NEPA. (required)
  • Significant experience with NPDES MS4 permits, NPDES MSGP, and NPDES GCP preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Proven track record with building, growing and leading a practice and group. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
