Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting Team in Boca Raton, Florida. The position offers the option of either working full-time in our Boca Raton office or a hybrid work from home option. This position plays an integral role by providing general accounting, and data entry services required to compile a complete and accurate trial balance used to prepare monthly and annual financial statements. In addition, this position is responsible for the preparation of account analysis and audit schedules and reconciliation of selected bank accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and record automatic recurring journal and rent voucher entries;
  • Record all appropriate month-end accrual entries at the end of each accounting period and the related reversals at the beginning of the next accounting period;
  • Record journal entries for all necessary transactions to properly record all financial transactions.
  • Maintain account analysis to support the activity in selected general ledger accounts;
  • Reconcile the subsidiary detail to the control account for all general ledger accounts which maintain a subsidiary and reconcile the data on subsidiary aging reports to the corresponding supporting schedule (e.g., amortization schedule);
  • Review departmentalization of the trial balance to ensure conformance with Company policies;
  • Enter all necessary journal entries to properly record payroll transactions;
  • Review deferred rent transactions;
  • Perform internal audit of the payroll system vs. the human resource system;
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation and year-end audit schedules;
  • Track line of credit activity – draws and available liquidity;
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation and year-end audit schedules;
  • Review general processes and work with General Accounting Manager and IT to create process improvements;
  • Process property tax payments and work with the auditors on reporting information for the locations; and
  • Compile monthly financial statement reports and post to SharePoint.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, and accounting software or a master’s degree and zero (0) years of experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). (required)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (including Excel VLOOKUP and PivotTables). (required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
