Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity in our Knoxville, Tennessee office for an Environmental Data Quality Specialist/Validator with interest and experience in environmental laboratory data assessment and data validation. The selected candidate should have commercial environmental and production laboratory, experience in inorganic and/or organic chemistry analysis. Preferred candidate will have experience performing data validation and a working knowledge of EPA National Functional Guidelines for Data Review. Experience preparing project quality documents such as Quality Assurance Project Plans to competently fulfill the role of a data quality specialist is expected.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing data quality reviews and assessments;
  • Performing Stage 2A through Stage B data validation per USEPA National Functional Guidance and other protocols;
  • Supporting data management efforts;
  • Supporting project quality documents;
  • Interacting with project managers and clients to cultivate an integrated team approach through open lines of communication and participation in work progress meetings; and
  • Implementing and abiding by site-specific and Company-specific health and safety plans (HASP) and procedures.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, or other related science. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in analytical quality control practices for organic and inorganic sample preparation and analysis. (preferred)
  • Data validation experience. (preferred)
  • Field sampling experience. (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
